Superintendent E. Wayne Gent asked for few changes to his proposed employment contract during negotiations Monday morning, accepting the offered salary of $225,000 a year without comment.
A draft contract for the job of Palm Beach County Schools superintendent has been public for several weeks; board members had wanted applicants to the district's top job to have a clear idea in advance of what was being offered so the board didn't "have to get into the situation of negotiating after we've made our first choice clear," school board member Jenny Prior Brown said earlier this month.
The school board is expected to look at the updated employment contract and vote on it at this Wednesday's school board meeting.
On Monday, Gent asked for relatively minor adjustments, such as being given 10 weeks of severance pay if he is terminated without cause instead of the eight weeks the draft contract provided for.
