LAKE WORTH Female sheriff's deputies posed as prostitutes to arrest 19 men Friday on charges of soliciting prostitution in Lake Worth, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.
The reverse prostitution sting at two locations on Dixie Highway was intended to have a chilling effect on prostitution and related crimes in the city, said Sgt. Oscar Cardenas, supervisor of the street crimes and community policing units for the sheriff's District 14 office, which handles law enforcement in Lake Worth.
"If we reduce the number of people soliciting prostitution, prostitutes may go somewhere else," Cardenas said.
The female deputies from throughout Palm Beach County recorded conversations and shot video of the Johns for use in court, Cardenas said.

WEST PALM BEACH — No one was safe when Jeff George starting naming people who helped him operate one of the biggest illict prescription drug networks in the country.
By the time he was done blabbing to law enforcement agents, his mother, his twin brother, his sister-in-law and a childhood friend were among the 33 people charged in connection with the farflung, lucrative and lethal operation.
"In my 43 years of practicing law, I can't remember any case where a defendent has cooperated knowing that as a result of his cooperation there was a high probability it would lead to the arrests of his mother and his brother," attorney David Roth said Friday in pleading for leniency for his client. "Mr. George, in street language, has come clean."

LAKE WORTH — Authorities arrested a Lake Worth man and woman Thursday after they were accused of offering sex for $25 while playing the role of pimp and prostitute. Miguel Gomez Miranda, 51, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $8,500 bond. He is facing charges of living off the earnings of a prostitute. Meanwhile, 35-year-old Sandra Peralta, who is facing prostitution charges, was released on her own recognizance. Though Circuit Court Judge Mark Eissey offered her the option to plead guilty and pay a fine, a lack of understanding on her behalf forced him to set a hearing for a later date while releasing her from the county jail.

This is a result of a two months investigation with numerous confidential informants and direct purchases of narcotics. It should be noted paperwork is already completed to start the Nuisance Abatement proceedings and will be turned in after the holidays.
The above is a fine example of “Hard work paying off” This location was responsible for a large amount of narcotics selling in the Genesis neighborhood of Lake Worth's District #1 and even though the location was strategically located and had a very well established counter-surveillance the stellar team of PBSO District #14 officers managed to conduct narcotics controlled purchases and obtained a search warrant. Great results !!!
Thank you to all the officers who risk their safety so that we can enjoy a cleaner safer community! We truly appreciate your efforts.
December 21, 2010- Update
Great news to report. PBSO District #14's Lt. Moss stopped by this morning to update Genesis President Mark A. Parrilla of a drug raid executed this morning. A warrant was served at 605 Pine St. where subjects were cooking ounces of crack cocaine. One pound of marijuana, firearm, drug paraphernalia were seized and the criminals arrested.
Members of the District 14 Lake Worth Street Crimes Team conducted the warrant at 605 South Pine Street. The team was accompanied by the City of Lake Worth “JAG” Code Inspector.
The search warrant was the result of a lengthy drug investigation where multiple sales of illegal drugs were conducted from the property. The “JAG” Code Enforcement Officer, working with PBSO Community Policing, was able to tag 2 apartments as unsafe, tagged abandoned vehicles, and will be continuing their code investigation.
Genesis thanks the diligent efforts of the PBSO to work with the community to create a safer, cleaner more enjoyable environment to live in. We receive real time crime report emails from the PBSO Crime Prevention Specialist Mr. Morgenstern which are in turn immediately posted to the Discussion board of our website. Thank you all once again for all of your participation in continuing to support the efforts of Genesis Neighborhood Association, Inc. We look forward to more successes in 2011!
